Tine Helleshøj
Sensual, clever, rock’n roll – are all words that have been used to describe Copenhagen based Tine Helleshøj’s bold, individualistic style.
At the age of 20, after attending several art schools, her career was jumpstarted by winning the first price at a curated exhibi-
tion, shown on Danish National Television in 1998. Since then she has been working as a professional artist shown in several
galleries throughout Denmark as well as art fairs across Scandinavia.
Working in mixed mediums such as gauche, spray paint, stencils and oilpainted characters– Helleshøj’s nostalgic pop images of sexy pin up girls and macho men set against bold and colorful detailed backgrounds exude an aesthetic that is both joy-filled and mesmerizing at the
same time. She weaves her characters’ stories spontaneously, eschewing obvious social state- ments and instead focusing on captivating imagery that brings a smile to the viewer’s lips. She is not inspired by any certain direction in art but finds her inspiration in urban life.
Her “joire de vivre” approach to art has earned her a large following since her debut in 1998, appealing to a wide audience of art enthusiasts and
casual admirers alike.
