Invalid Displayed Gallery
Jesse Reno is a self-taught mixed media painter and has been exhibiting his work since 2000. This prolific artist has been featured in various art publications including Juxtapoz, Artnews, DPI and Artension. “His colorful works utilize various tools to create well-juxtaposed shamanic characters positioned before polychromatic backgrounds. Their refined scribble aesthetic drawing you in to further examine skilled composition and linework. Let the artwork speak for itself”~ED, Juxtapoz, Volume 101 . Reno states “My current work deals with the underlying connections of what is or appears to be fragmented and my attempt and the ability to make those connections by using instinct and emotion over logic and reason.”Max Kauffman’s artwork has been called “Magical” and “Future Primative” and reflects a constant push and pull between conscious, realized and intricate line-work coupled with abstract and unconscious washes of color and form. The artist spends most of his time traveling; creating murals and street art installations and he credits this movement with remaining open to the unknown while simultaneously “having a plan” and feels it forms the foundation for the themes of his artwork.
Gallery II Jon Todd ~ Adam Ziskie ~ Ultrafry
Adam Ziskie previously a working artist in San Francisco, is a new Austin resident. He has shown his work extensively in the bay area at White Walls, Shooting Gallery, Gauntlet Gallery, 111 Minna, Spoke Art, and Modern Eden. He holds his B.F.A. from Montserrat College of Art. While Adam works primarily in watercolor, he also has created freelance designs for Airbnb, completed multiple murals and lead mural projects for Facebook.
Jon Todd is a Toronto based mixed media artist. Todd combines many mediums in his art including painting on found objects, collaging various papers, wood block cuts and screen-printing. His artistic process involves layering various mediums coupled with distressing techniques, and it is this pairing that gives his art a unique style. Todd’s recent works are of contemporary portraitures whose bodies are adorned with intricate symbolic images. These images provide the viewer the means to decipher the character’s life story. The result is a contrasting blend of rawness and refined beauty
Emilio Barnes is an artist from London creating under the name Ultrafry. His current paintings are a continuous development stemmed from his interest in eastern and middle eastern cultural design, which he has adopted as the foundation of his work. Emilio focuses on creating a harmony between his various influences of pattern art, nature, graffiti and music, which are all used as elements to compose chaotic landscapes in a cosmic atmosphere.
The alias Ultrafry is derived from two significant past experiences – ‘Ultra’, taken from the song/album title Ultravisitor by Squarepusher, an electronic jazz musician who he considers a timeless inspiration for his work. ‘Fry’, a term he used to describe the distorted ‘melting’ mental state he’d feel whilst hallucinating through episodes of sleep paralysis.
